The IET Present Around the World Competition is an opportunity for participants to present their innovation-motivated technical work in the areas of Engineering and Technology and win prizes. The winner of the local category will represent Brunei to participate in the IET Asia Pacific “Present Around the World” Competition in Mumbai, India this year. This is an opportunity for the winning participant to meet other young professionals in these areas in this all-expense-paid (ticket fare, transport, accommodation and meals) trip.

Present around the World competitions in local Young Professionals’ Sections are open to all students, apprentices or young professionals who have graduated within the last 7 years.

Submission
The participants must submit their individual entries by 24th April 2010.
Their entries must include:
- A brief synopsis of the presentation
in 100-200 words
- The title of the presentation
- Full name of participant
- Name of school/ institution/ company
- IC number
- Telephone and mobile number
- Email address
The synopsis must be a Microsoft Word or PDF document and saved under the filename format: family name followed by an underscore and then followed by the abbreviation of the college/institution name.
E.g An entry by Mohd Saleh bin Mohd Ali from Maktab Kejuteraan Jefri Bolkiah would submit the file with the file name, mohdali_mkjb.doc

During Presentation
Each participant will be presenting to a panel of three judges following the judging format described below. The participant is advised to be at the venue 20-30 minutes before the time of his/her presentation.
A laptop/ computer with a projector and screen is provided at the venue for the participant to conduct his presentation. Please be sure to bring a pen drive and a back-up to store the presentation file/s.
The best 8 presentation will be selected as the finalists, out of which the first and second winners will be selected. The finalists will be informed either by email or by telephone once the results are determined.
The winner and second runner-up of the competition will be announced followed by a prize giving ceremony.
Presentation Judging Format
Each presenter is given 10 minutes to present followed by a Q&A session of 5 minutes.
During each presentation, the Chair will indicate the time after 8 minutes and then again after 10 minutes. The speaker should then finish the presentation as quickly as possible. The Chair will interrupt the speaker and ask them to stop immediately, if necessary.

Please note that the judging criteria is a split of 25 per cent technical content and 75 per cent presentation skills, enabling young professionals at varying levels of their studies or career to participate.
Asia Pacific “Present Around the World” (PATW) Competition
Present Around the World (PATW) offers students and young professionals the opportunity to win £150, or £1,000 if put forward for the Global Final, by talking for ten minutes on an Engineering or Technology subject.
The PATW Asia Pacific Final was held at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunication (BUPT) in Beijing on 23 October 2009, which was won by Wen Xia from Singapore. He went on to the International Final on 25 November 2009 in London.
Prateek Banga from India was the runner-up while Lim Ren Foo from the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) represented Brunei IET Network, securing fourth place at PATW Asia Pacific Final.
This year, the Asia Pacific PATW will be held in Mumbai, India tentatively on 31st July 2010.
