Energy and Materials for Sustainable Development

Presentation on Low-Carbon, Green Growth and Green Energy Technology

The Energy & Material Research Clusters from University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD) hosted the International Workshop on "Energy and Materials for Sustainable Development" on 27th and 28th January 2010 at the Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam. The Minister of Energy Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Mohammad bin Haji Daud officiated the opening of the event.

With the current energy crisis and growing environmental consciousness, the global perspective in energy generation and consumption is shifting towards sustainable resources and technology. Judicious use of the traditional energy sources like oil and natural gas, along with the utilization of renewable energy resources are viable ways towards a sustainable and secure energy future for Brunei Darussalam. The Government has identified these issues and taken several initiatives for energy conservation and renewable energy utilization in recent years.

The UBD is committed to support these initiatives for sustainable development through research and innovations, human resource development and professional services.

Distinguished professors and academic researchers from world class universities from Australia, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Korea were present to share and contribute to the workshop.

The IET Brunei Network committee members supported and attended the 2 days event on the energy and materials researches workshop which are very challenging for the future generations.
