Haji Isyrah Fahmi Haji Osman, a Computer Science undergraduate student of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) is the winner of the Present Around The World (PATW) Competition. The competition is organised by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Brunei Darussalam Network. The 1st runner up prize was won by Ilmy Mulyaddey Bin Haji Mohd Ali of Maktab Teknik Sultan Saiful Rijal (MTSSR).
Haji Isyrah Fahmi will be representing Brunei in the PATW Asia-Pacific Competition in Mumbai, India on 31st July 2010. Contestants from Asia-Pacific IET networks will compete in this event. Winner from the regional competition will then proceed to the PATW Global Final Competition, which will be held in London, United Kingdom. In the PATW Global Final Competition, winning speakers from the different regions will compete with each other for the prestigious IET Present Around The World prize.
The first and runner-up winners of the local competition will also win themselves a one-year IET membership, which opens a door for them to engage themselves in the professional networks of engineering and technology as well as in knowledge sharing opportunities.
The PATW competition is an international event and it marks another contribution from the IET Brunei in promoting engineering and technology among young people. In line with its vision to share and advance knowledge throughout the global Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) community contributing towards national development, the IET Brunei has been actively promoting SET among the younger generation. Apart from the PATW, there is the prestigious IET Local Network Prize to reward excellence in students graduating from local higher institutions. In addition, the IET Brunei conducts technical presentations, organizes activities and contributes posters to schools.
