IET Brunei Network participated to exhibit in the Brunei Shell Conditioning Monitoring road show event on 7th May 2010.

Condition monitoring is becoming the trend in today business objective mainly to optimize the maintenance of the electrical equipment base on predictive maintenance and to maximize equipment availability to maintain production.

The road show included other parties who presented the following:

  1. The DGA (dissolved gas analysis) of transformer oil to predict whether there is an likelihood of transformer internal fault,

  2. Partial discharge monitoring of high voltage cables (both online and offline) to predict an impending cable failure,

  3. HV & LV switchgear condition monitoring of smart switchgear

  4. Thermal imaging of electrical and mechanical equipment for hot spots,

  5. Digital protection relay programming and testing

  6. Cable insulation monitoring for IT (ungrounded) system

  7. Periodic wiring inspection and testing for buildings

  8. Periodic inspection and testing of portable appliance

The IET committee members, Soo Kok Ping and Manggau Galawing were exhibiting the BS 7671:2008 wiring regulation on the subject of a) Periodic Inspection and Testing for Building Wiring Installation and b) routine inspection and testing of portable appliances using the PAT (Portable Appliance Tester).

The event was attended by 250 participants from the Brunei Shell & Brunei LNG, Contractors, Consultants, Vendors and Suppliers and including the public.
